A lecture inaugurating Africa Days Festival Dr Adam Rybiński : Meetings with nomads from south Sahara and Sahel

2) May 16, Tuesday, starts 12.00, Tyszkiewiczów-Potockich Palace ballroom

Conference "Africa in XXI century- political, economic and social challenges"(under umbrella of Polish Society of African Studies)

  • Presentation of political events, including armed conflicts which took placesince year 2000
  • Describing economic challenges African continent is facing at the moment
  • Description of social problems, African governments and non-government
    organizations operating in Africa
  • Characteristic of social and economic transformations on African continent
  • Description of relations between African continent and other parts of the world

    During break there will be a treat, prepared by restaurants specializing in African dishes. In conference will take part: Richard Mbewe, prof Jan J. Milewski, dr Jerzy Gilarowski, dr Małgorzata Szupejko, mgr Jakub Zajączkowski, mgr Kamil Zajączkowski. In further part a discussion with Glen volunteer program members is scheduled.

    5) May 22, Monday, 17.00, Senate Hall of Warsaw University, Kazimierzowski Palace

    Darfur Forum discussion Panel. A discussion panel devoted to the biggest humanitarian catastrophe in world, with presence of journalists, representatives of humanitarian organizations, scientists and representatives of Sudanese in Poland. Their participation already confirmed Janina Ochojska from Polish Humanitarian Organization and dr Maciej Ząbek from Warsaw University.

    6) May 23-24 , Tuesday-Wednesday, movie festival "Faces of Africa" ( Art House SMB "Jary")

    23 May, starts 16.00, documentary films from Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights collection. It will probably be:


  • "Liberia- civil war"; directors: Jonathan Stack, James Brabazon (USA, 2004)
  • "Sisters facing the law"; director: Kim Longinotto, Florence Ayisi (Great Britain, 2005)
  • " Lost children"; director: Ali Samadi Ahadi, Oliver Stoltz (Germany 2005)
