Yesterday we visited Coniew – a small village few kilometers past Góra Kalwaria. This year the local primary school (+gymnasium) arranged a sixth edition of their scientific festival for their pupils. Everything started few years ago when Mrs Marta Rybińska, a young teacher working in that school, told her director that according to her the main problem of Polish education is its very formal shape. She asked if the director would agree to “give” her one weekday every year for a festival when various guests invited from outside of the school would present various interesting topics which are not included in the formal schoolteaching. The festival turned out to be an excellent idea, so every year there comes its another edition.

In 2014 there was the first time for us to be invited there – we came with two presentations. In autumn 2014 Mrs Rybińska asked if the Kenyan-Polish Forum would come back in 2015. And so it happened. This time we had a group of children in the age of 6-9 years old. We started with disclosing that Kenya is a kind of Neverland – a magical land that is basing on various tales. We presented pictures attaching various tales, stories, myths etc. which were anyhow connected to the presented images. As usually, the most attracting element of the presentation were animals. Some children were quite astonished that there are… dogs living in Kenya. They rather expected only elephants and giraffes.

We would like to thank the school very much for the invitation!
